LARRY BOYER
Larry Boyer attended Montana State University in Bozeman and has completed the degree requirements for a BFA. However, before attending MSU, he developed for himself an “Old Master’s” type technique of layering charcoal over charcoal (a dry glazing), to arrive at a realistic charcoal drawing that can be both atmospheric and solid. Subjects of the western USA and related themes is the armature of what is depicted. Though one is quickly and involuntarily drawn into the visual experience of the realistic charcoal drawings, the resolving of the forces take time, and causes a person to have a relationship with each work. It is this imaginative interaction with the western scene presented and its final completion by the onlooker that forcefully drives this art.
